Landscape Design
A Structured Way to Build Outdoor Spaces
Landscape design–build is a project delivery approach where planning and construction are handled by the same team from the outset. At Horvath Landscapes, this allows us to guide projects from concept through completion with clarity, continuity, and accountability.
By aligning design decisions with how projects are actually built, we reduce uncertainty, limit mid-project changes, and maintain better control over timelines and outcomes.

Why Design–Build Reduces Risk
Outdoor projects involve interdependent decisions—layout, grading, drainage, materials, access, sequencing, and finishes. When design and construction are separated, those decisions often resurface during the build, leading to delays or compromises.
Our design–build process brings those decisions forward. Materials, methods, and site conditions are addressed early so construction can proceed efficiently and predictably.
What Our Design–Build Projects Typically Include
Design–build projects vary by property and priorities, but commonly include combinations of:
-
Hardscape elements such as patios, walkways, steps, and retaining structures
-
Planting and softscape designed to complement the built environment
-
Integrated lighting planned alongside layout and circulation
-
Carpentry elements such as decks, pergolas, or privacy structures
-
Swimming pools and associated site coordination where applicable
Each project is scoped deliberately. We focus on cohesive outdoor environments rather than isolated features installed in stages.
Planning First, Then Building with Discipline
Our process begins with education and planning. We explain design options, material differences, and construction implications before work begins, allowing decisions to be finalized early.
Once the design and scope are approved, construction is handled by our in-house team using professional machinery suited to both small-access and large-access sites. Work is sequenced carefully to reduce rework and disruption.
Pools, Structures, and Technical Coordination
Some design–build projects include swimming pools, structural elements, or technical systems requiring additional coordination. Fiberglass pools are our primary pool offering due to their reliability and installation efficiency when integrated into a broader landscape plan.
Concrete, marbleite, and porcelain-tiled pools are undertaken on select projects where site conditions and scope are appropriate. Where required, septic systems are designed and installed under BCIN Part 8. Structural engineering is coordinated externally when project conditions demand it.
Where Design–Build Makes the Most Sense
Design–build is well suited to homeowners who:
-
Want design decisions finalized before construction begins
-
Prefer a single point of responsibility for planning and execution
-
Value clear timelines and organized site management
-
Are building multiple elements as part of one cohesive project
This approach is particularly effective for projects in and around Aurora, where access, grading, and coordination often play a significant role.
Starting a Project
The most successful projects begin with early conversations. Engaging us during the planning phase allows feasibility, sequencing, and scope options to be addressed before construction commitments are made.
If you are considering a complete outdoor project and want clear guidance on scope and execution, we recommend reaching out early in the process.
