Landscape Lighting

Lighting That Supports the Landscape

Landscape lighting influences how an outdoor space is used, navigated, and perceived after dark. At Horvath Landscapes, lighting is treated as a design element that supports the overall landscape rather than an accessory added at the end of construction.

Lighting layouts are planned alongside grading, circulation, planting, and hardscape so the finished space functions well both day and night.

Planned as Part of the Design–Build Process

The most effective lighting systems are planned early. When lighting is considered during the design phase, fixture placement, conduit routing, and transformer locations can be coordinated with other construction elements.

This approach avoids surface-mounted wiring, improvised solutions, and visual clutter. It also allows lighting to reinforce circulation paths, architectural features, and planting without overpowering the space.

What Our Landscape Lighting Services Include

Landscape lighting systems vary by project, but typically include:

  • Path and step lighting for safe movement after dark

  • Accent lighting for trees, planting, and focal elements

  • Subtle architectural lighting to support structures and hardscape

  • Thoughtful fixture placement to reduce glare and light spill

  • System layout that supports future service and adjustments

Lighting is selected and positioned to balance visibility, atmosphere, and restraint.

Integration with Planting and Hardscape

Lighting and planting work best when planned together. As plants mature, lighting must be positioned to accommodate growth and maintain intended effects. Similarly, lighting tied into steps, walls, or patios must be coordinated during construction to ensure clean installation.

This integrated approach improves long-term performance and avoids the need for rework as the landscape evolves.

Installation Standards and Coordination

Landscape lighting is installed with attention to durability, access, and long-term serviceability. Wiring routes and fixture locations are coordinated with other trades during construction to minimize disruption and maintain clean finishes.

Lighting systems are installed as part of a broader project or, in some cases, added to existing landscapes where conditions allow for proper integration

Service Areas and Project Fit

Landscape lighting services are most commonly provided in and around Aurora, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, and King. Larger or more complex lighting scopes may be considered in Markham, North York, or Toronto when part of an integrated landscape project.

Starting a Lighting Project

Lighting is most successful when planned early. Engaging us during the design stage allows lighting to be integrated cleanly and deliberately rather than added later as an afterthought.

If you are considering landscape lighting as part of a new build or an upgrade to an existing space, we recommend starting the conversation early.
